In business for nearly 10 years, Shepherdstown Pedal & Paddle serves cyclists in the Eastern Panhandle, and beyond.
Owner Eddie Sampson was inspired to open the business in 2007 for a simple reason: his love for the outdoors and the “great vibe” he felt from Shepherdstown when he first came to visit.
“I fell in love with Shepherdstown and the surrounding area,” he admitted, adding that when he had the opportunity to purchase real estate in town, which is now the Pedal & Paddle storefront, he didn’t think twice.
Pedal & Paddle not only provides full service for bikes, but also offers kayaks and canoes for purchase, service, or rental. Cyclists can rely on the shop’s certified mechanic, Jamie Stone, to take care of any bike needs—with the business even offering complimentary lifetime maintenance on bikes they sell. The shop has a wide selection of new and used bikes, kayaks, and canoes to serve all needs—from purchase to rental.
With the C&O Canal and Potomac River less than five minutes from downtown Shepherdstown, Pedal & Paddle is the prime location for those who prefer renting their gear for the day. And if arranged in advance, Sampson’s business offers a shuttle for customers who prefer to be dropped off at a different location.
Sampson isn’t the only one at the shop who seeks the outdoors, however; in fact, the entire team shares his passion. He believes this is a special facet of the business that separates him from other similar shops. To everyone on the team, it’s not just a job to work with Pedal & Paddle, but a love.
He emphasized: “What sets us apart is the team—everyone who works at Shepherdstown Pedal & Paddle has a passion for the outdoors, and truly enjoys sharing that with others.”
