The “Spirit” of Mr. Jefferson’s County Lecture Series
April 30, 2017 @ 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Join us for our second presentation led by Doug Perks.
Writing in Between the Shenandoah and the Potomac, author Julia Davis said about the many folks who have come to Jefferson County, “They came, they fell in love with the countryside and the life, and they have remained.” The “Spirit” of these men and women who came and then built Mr. Jefferson’s County is part of the fabric of our rich History. Join local historian Doug Perks as he explores the people, places, and events which make our county one of the most historic in the Nation.
The second “Spirit” of Mr. Jefferson’s County lecture is entitled “We Drunk the King’s Health…” and is scheduled for Sunday, April 30, 2017, at 4 PM. The focus of the second lecture is early settlers and settlements in Mr. Jefferson’s County. Plans are to make the “Spirit” lectures a regular monthly feature at Town Run Brewing Company, and in addition to the April 30th date the last Sunday in both May (May 28), and June (June 25) are already on the calendar. A planned summer break in July and August will be used both to retool and to determine if the series will continue.
Although there is no charge, donations are accepted. Proceeds will be used to cover program costs with the guarantee that a portion will be shared with a local History organization. April’s recipient is the Historic Shepherdstown Commission.By:
