“..The Fiasco’s strategy (covering Zeppelin) was both bold and cunning. Rather than trying to emulate Jimmy Page and Robert Plant’s masterpiece with a reverent forgery, they toppled it to the ground and picked up the pieces they liked best.” -Mark Rossler, Valley Advocate
“If anyone can walk this particular tightrope successfully, it is the Valley’s finest sonic antidote to feeling low.” -James Heflin of Valley Advocate
To a deaf person, they look like a New Orleans dixieland street band. To a blind person, they sound like a rave DJ mashing-up house beats with 60′s folk lyrics. To the police, it’s a busy day on the sidewalk.
On stage, the sound is different. This band has pioneered what is possible with mind-bending Accordion, funky pockets of a hyperactive Sousaphone player, and banjo that thinks it’s a Fender Strat. Add lyrics that grab hold of even the most inattentive audience and beats that channel surf like a remote that’s been sat on. The music is always high energy and extremely imaginative. Most importantly, this is fun. People smile from the first beat to the last smoldering ash of what was previously a dance floor.
Following a Grammy-nominated kids album, several conquered jam and electronica fests and stolen hearts at prestigious folk festivals, the Primate Fiasco audience demographic is as diverse as a New York City street. No one is safe from the Fiasco. You will smile.
In our Halloween Extravaganza, Primate Fiasco performs the DYLAN DISCO! The highly innovative band (Tuba/Accordion/Tenor Banjo/Drums) pays tribute to a highly innovative songwriter. Both are genre bending manglers of context. One brings folk lyrics into pop, the other plays unlikely instruments in all manner of styles from EDM to funk to Americana and more. You’ve already heard Dylan in many styles. Now try him on the dance floor. And if you hear vague traces of skipping reels of rhyme to your tambourine in time, it’s just a ragged clown behind. I wouldn’t pay it any mind. It’s just a shadow you’re seeing that he’s chasing.”
