donO’s All-Star Groove: Collectively, the careers of Bob Berberich, Don Oehser, Tom Principato, and Steve Wolf make up about 200 years of professional recording and performing experience all over the world… in blues, jazz, rock, r&b….you name it.
Legendary DC drummer, Bob Berberich, was 18 years old when his band, the Hangmen, pushed the Beatles’ “We Can Work It Out” off the No. 1 spot on the regional Billboard chart. He went on to perform for years with Nils Lofgren (including the band, Grin) and was a founding member of the Rosslyn Mountain Boys.
Don Oehser has been a professional guitarist/singer/songwriter for over 40 years, mostly in the DC and Boston areas. He was a founding member of DC psycho-billy crazies Evan Johns and the H-Bombs, lead guitarist with The Catfish Hodge Band; has played with bluesmen J.B. Hutto, Jimmy Rogers, Phil Wiggins, DC roots-rock icon Billy Hancock, among others.
Over 45+ years, guitarist and singer Tom Principato has had a career which boasts 18 albums, 29 “Wammie” (Washington Area Music Awards), and over 5,000 gigs including over 50 tours of Europe. He was leader of the legendary band, Powerhouse and has played (both in the studio and in concert) with musicians including Geoff Muldaur, Sunnyland Slim, Billy Price, Big Mama Thornton, and Danny Gatton.
Steve Wolf, bassist, has been a fixture on the Mid Atlantic music scene since the late 60s. He has performed at major festivals and venues throughout the United States and Europe with such D.C. area notables as Danny Gatton, The Nighthawks, Catfish Hodge, Deanna Bogart, and a diverse group of national artists including Chuck Berry, Bo Diddly, Doctor John, Springsteen sax man Clarence Clemons.By:
