Jodi Forrest-Pope began working with Advocate Insurance Group in Martinsburg in September 2015 after a complete career shift from the automotive industry. Since then, as an Outside Sales Agent, she’s found steady traction in referrals. “I’ve worked really hard at building a network with mortgage lenders, realtors, clients, as well as other networking avenues like the Jefferson Chamber of Commerce, Eastern Panhandle Home Builders Association, and BNI [Business Networking International],” she explained. “Following through with my referral network’s clients in a timely manner, explaining coverages to their clients, and focusing on being more of a consultant creates a trust with those network partners.”
To that end, Forrest-Pope says referrals from friends and past clients are the ultimate compliment. “When this happens, it really emphasizes that I did my job of setting up expectations and living up to what I’ve promised and that they were happy with the service I provided.”
Established in 2008, Advocate is part of the Erie Insurance Agency, one of West Virginia’s largest insurance providers. The change in seasons doesn’t affect Forrest-Pope’s ability or desire to help folks in her community find the right insurance solutions. “Whether it’s a review of what coverages you currently carry for your home or autos, or if you’re looking to add life insurance, it’s always a good time to review your insurance needs to see if I can help save you money and/or provide the proper coverage,” she emphasized. “Sometimes, people feel overwhelmed with thinking about doing a review or talking about life insurance, but I make it super easy and stress free!”
Working within the community where she grew up is also a regular source of motivation and inspiration for Forrest-Pope. “The majority of the people I meet want to work with people they know or feel connected to,” she said. “A sense of wanting to buy local, work local, and support those who support the community back is what I have been inspired by. That’s one of the reasons I volunteer locally and support local sports teams and charitable organizations.”
That said, she also feels that Advocate simply presents itself to the community as a different experience. “From day one, joining Advocate has felt like coming home to family. I think that has been a driving force behind what Advocate is about. I sincerely care about what is important to them and what they are going through in their lives. When someone calls with questions or a need for a quote, they are getting an actual person on the line—they can come see me in person and know who they are working with. Insurance is a funny thing because people are paying for something they can’t see until something unfortunate happens. I want to be there when they need it.”
